According to national surveys by the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues in the United States. You are a social worker working with families living in high-poverty, high-crime neighborhood; and you decide to study whether anxiety is high for the residents. The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) is a frequently used measure of anxiety for adults and has a lower limit of 19 for moderate anxiety. You recruit a sample of 18 residents who complete the BAI.
